Students, Faculty, and Staff will represent the School of Information Studies (iSchool) this week at the Annual Conference of the New York Library Association in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Held from Wednesday, November 8 through Saturday, November 11 in the Saratoga City Center and the Saratoga Hilton, the conference will bring together library leaders from across New York to learn and network with each other.
iSchool faculty members Rachel Clarke, Jill Hurst-Wahl, and Barbara Stripling will take part in the following conference sessions and workshops:
Thursday, November 9:
Barbara Stripling will co-host the “New to NYLA” session for first-time conference attendees. Stripling is currently serving as NYLA president.
Rachel Clarke is participating in a panel discussion titled, “I’m a Librarian, Ask Me Anything!”
Friday, November 10:
Jill Hurst-Wahl will speak at the “Recruit, Retain, Repeat…Again” session, focusing on ideas and efforts to recruit and retain school librarians.
Saturday, November 11:
Jill Hurst-Wahl will participate in “Nevertheless, She Persisted,” a women’s leadership panel discussion.

Student and Alumni Events
Nearly 20 iSchool graduate students will attend the conference this year, and will greet alumni and friends at the iSchool’s booth, #37 in the exhibit hall. Representatives from the iSchool’s enrollment management office will also be on hand to talk about graduate program offerings, including a new program in Applied Data Science, and online MSLIS degree opportunities.
An evening reception for iSchool alumni attending the conference is planned, to be held at Sperry’s Restaurant in Saratoga Springs on Friday, November 10 at 5:00 PM. RSVP’s are requested.
