Fall classes have begun at the School of Information Studies (iSchool), and Hinds Hall is again buzzing with activity as new graduate and undergraduate students join the iSchool family, and existing students return for the semester.
The iSchool welcomed 156 new undergraduate Information Management and Technology majors to the Class of 2020, and 50 undergraduate transfer students. The new undergraduate class hails from 23 U.S. states and 9 foreign countries.
238 new master’s degree students also began their studies this week across the iSchool’s Information Management, Library and Information Science, and CAS programs.
Students returned to technology spaces that have been upgraded over the summer, and classrooms, conference rooms, and collaboratories outfitted with new seating throughout the building.
Summer also brought construction and renovations outside of the building, with a new entrance to the parking lot behind Hinds Hall, and the opening of the adjacent University Place Promenade walk.
After a weekend of orientation, advising meetings, receptions, social gatherings and a University-wide Convocation ceremony, all students began classes on Monday, August 29.
The Student Services office in Hinds Hall will welcome new and returning students this week with donuts and cider as they wait to see advisors and take care of registration and class scheduling issues.
