The Fall Career Fair at the School of Information Studies (iSchool), held on Monday, September 29, in the Carrier Dome, was the largest career event hosted by the School to date.

More than 40 employers were in attendance, representing a wide range of global and local corporations, and were recruiting students for both internship as well as full-time positions. Many of the recruiters at the event were iSchool alumni, returning to campus to interview and meet with the next generation of talent.

Attracting both graduates and undergraduates, the fair broke attendance records, with 516 students attending during the fair’s three-hour time slot in the Dome.

“I’m so pleased with our turnout this year, both from employers and from our students,” said iSchool director of employer relations Sarah Weber. “It was wonderful to see all of the students speaking with a wide variety of firms recruiting them, and our events leading up to the Fair, such as the resume review and mock interview sessions, prepared them well for the experience.”

The iSchool boasts a 91% job placement rate (based on a 3-year rolling average) for undergraduate students, as well as one of the highest starting salaries on campus for these students, at over $61,000. Nearly a third of undergraduates credit iSchool career fairs and on-campus recruiting events for their success for landing the first job after graduation.

“As diverse as the field of information technology is,” notes Weber, “the iSchool works closely with our industry partners to ensure there is not only a wide variety of employment opportunities for iSchool students, but also strong alignment between their skill sets and the positions.”
