Research and technology emerging from the Wireless Grids Innovation Testbed (WiGiT), led by School of Information Studies Professor Lee McKnight, was featured in a Syracuse Post-Standard article on Sunday, July 24.

The article highlighted the use of WiGiT technology in disaster and emergency situations. “It’s revolutionary technology that is going to totally change the way people communicate,” lab executive director Edward Nanno told the Post-Standard.

In addition to emergency situations, the article outlined other areas where the technology is being tested locally, including its use in the South Side Communication Center, the Oneida Indian Nation, and the upcoming release of WeJay social radio on the Syracuse University Campus.
