This year, BLISTS (Black and Latino Information Studies Support) is celebrating 25 years at the iSchool with a big event that invites BLISTS students, alumni, and friends to join a full day of celebratory events on Saturday, April 28.
What is A BLISTSful Return?
A BLISTSful Return is an celebration of a big milestone: 25 years since the founding of the Black and Latino Information Studies Support (BLISTS) group at the iSchool. The event is a combination of a professional conference, alumni reunion, and a birthday party celebration!
What kind of workshops and panels can I go to?
A BLISTSful Return will not only have the founding alumni of BLISTS in attendance, but it will have:
- A BLISTS Founders Panel featuring the alumni founders and leaders of BLISTS.
- A Women in Technology panel discussion, where iSchool alumna will host a panel on the challenges facing women – especially women of color – in the workplace.
- A Cloud Solutions Workshop, which is a MUST for all IT professionals. This workshop will be lead by DuWayne Harrison, Director in Wipro’s North American Data Center and Cloud Practice.
Do I need to be in BLISTS to go to A BLISTSful Return?
You don’t have to be in BLISTS to go to this event, and this is a great opportunity to get to know BLISTS better! We love meeting new people, collaborating with other student groups, and getting more involved in the iSchool. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome.
This event is for BLISTS students, alumni, and friends. If you’re a student and you have yet to meet the BLISTS e-Board or general body (GB), remember that it’s never too late to get involved!
And there’s an Evening Gala Celebration, right?
Yes! After the mini-conference, the iSchool and BLISTS are hosting an evening gala event with dinner and dancing. The gala will celebrate all that BLISTS alumni and students have achieved in 25 years. It will be an inspirational way to end the semester and look ahead to the future of BLISTS and the Syracuse University iSchool.

A BLISTSful Return: Celebrating 25 Years of BLISTS
When: A BLISTSful Return is on Saturday, April 28. The reunion and mini-conference begins at 3:00 p.m. and the Evening Gala is later in the evening.
Where: Syracuse University. The mini-conference will take place in Hinds Hall, home to the iSchool. The Evening Gala will take place at the Syracuse University Sheraton.
