Two graduates of the Library and Information Science master’s program at the School of Information Studies (iSchool) have remembered the school in their estate plans.

Recently, Crystal Anne (Dawson) Clift ’70 (A&S), ’71 (iSchool) provided a gift to the Dean’s Fund at the iSchool.  A second estate gift of $50,000 from Carol A. Stone ’54, will establish a permanent, endowed scholarship fund at the iSchool in her memory.

“We are very grateful for the extraordinary generosity from Ms. Clift and Ms. Stone.  Their ultimate expressions of support and appreciation, made though their estate gifts, will mean a great deal to students and faculty at the iSchool for generations to come,” said Scott Barrett, assistant dean for advancement.  “It is humbling to receive such thoughtful and generous support from these two graduates of our school. It is a privileged to celebrate these gifts in their memory.”

Crystal Clift, a resident of St. Anthony Village, Minnesota, died in 2011. She was a graduate of Dryden High School and received her master’s degree in library science at Syracuse in 1970. She later earned a second master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. Her career was spent providing technical information services to major corporations. She retired in 2010 from BAE Systems, where she managed their corporate library system.

Carol Stone resided in Dade County, Florida. She was a 1954 graduate of the School’s program. Originally from Connecticut, she worked for the Miami Dade County Public library after her graduation in the cataloging department. She retired as supervisor of the departments of periodicals and government documents after 40 years of service there.
