The School of Information Studies (iSchool) has arranged for a tech roadtrip to the Buffalo NY area to allow students to explore careers and jobs on the technical side of sports and sport venue management.

On January 18, students will travel by motor coach to Buffalo to take a behind the scenes tour of Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the Buffalo Bills, and participate in a panel discussion and networking event with IT and marketing staff at the Bills organization.  After lunch, students will travel for a meet-up with alumni and technology staff at First Niagara Arena, home of the Buffalo Sabres, and will be treated to a tech-focused Sabres arena tour.

Associate Professor of Practice Jeffrey Rubin, who has helped organize the trip explains, “for the last two years we have taken our students to the New York City area to experience various trips. Now, we’re giving them the opportunity to visit NFL and NHL teams right in our backyard. They will have the chance to meet the CEO of the Buffalo Bills, as well as a large number of IT related employees.  It’s really exciting that our students have the opportunity to see firsthand what it takes to manage a professional athletic event.”

Space available for the trip is limited, and students are encouraged to apply by the end of the day on December 21. Application information and more trip details are available on the roadtrip website.
