The Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool) is pleased to announce that John David (J.D.) Ross will be joining the iSchool as the Director of Communications beginning July 11th.

Ross comes to the iSchool from Hamilton College, where he served as the New Media Director for the past five years. He was responsible for all digital and social media communications efforts for the College.

Prior to joining Hamilton College, Ross spent eight years with IBM, leading several global teams of writers and content developers in support of communications solutions. He holds a B.A. in American History from the University of California at San Diego and an M.S. in Technical Communication from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

“I am honored and excited to join the team at the School of Information Studies,” Ross said. “The iSchool is a leader in the field, and I am looking forward to working with faculty, staff and students to showcase the innovative programs and initiatives that happen here.”

As the new Director of Communications, Ross will be responsible for leading and coordinating the development and execution of comprehensive communications and marketing strategies for the iSchool. In particular, J.D. will focus on highlighting and increasing the visibility, profile, and reputation of the iSchool to potential students, alumni, parents, donors, employers, partners, and supporters.

“I’m very excited to welcome J.D. to the iSchool,” Dean Elizabeth D. Liddy said. “His professional experience and passion for innovation fit our culture very well and I look forward to his contributions to the iSchool’s ever-increasing success and reputation.”
