The Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool) will host an Open House for the Next Generation of Library Leaders on Thursday, November 11 and Friday, November 12, 2010, for anyone interested in studying the field of library and information science.

From 5:15 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, the iSchool will host an Overview and Information Fair in which prospective students will meet with students, faculty, and alumni to learn about experiences and opportunities in the library science field. Among the topics to be covered are:

  • online learning options and Web-based Information Science Education Consortium,
  • master’s programs in library and information science and school media,
  • certificates of advanced study in digital libraries, eScience, cultural heritage preservation
  • career opportunities,
  • admissions, and
  • financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

Prospective students will be able to interact with faculty on Friday, November 12 from 9 a.m. until noon as faculty members share how they turned passions for participatory librarianship, eScience, information organization, innovation, and motivation into their professions.

All those interested are welcome to attend one or both of the events. Refreshments will be served.
