It’s never too early for students to start thinking about a career path. By hosting its fourth annual career transition program, “Explore and Experience…Your Path to Career Success” on March 26, the career center in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, in collaboration with The College of Arts & Sciences, School of Information Studies (iSchool), and the Smith College of Engineering, will provide students from across the SU campus with the opportunity to chart their paths to career success. With guidance from a wide-ranging group of Whitman’s corporate partners, students will prepare for the upcoming fall recruiting cycle with career workshops, mock interviews, resume critiques, and panel discussions.

The stellar line up of companies involved in “Explore and Experience” includes Macy’s, Ernst & Young, General Electric, PricewaterhouseCoopers, TJX, Friedman, and Super Media. Personnel from each of these companies will lead discussions on personal branding, career exploration, networking, career strategy, interviewing, business correspondence, and the use of social media. Industry specific career panels will be held throughout the afternoon. Additional resume reviews and mock interviews will be conducted by representatives from Altria Sales & Distribution; Anchin, Block & Anchin; Apple Computer; Ayco; Deloitte, Dermody, Burke & Brown; Grant Thornton; JPMorgan Chase; Target; and Toys R Us. One of the highlights of this year’s “Explore and Experience” will be the “Business Dress Seminar,” hosted by Lord & Taylor, which will take place during a networking lunch. The event will culminate with a “Business Etiquette Dinner” at the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel and Conference Center.

“We are dedicated to providing students with the skills and support they need to launch successful careers,” says Angela Petrucco, assistant dean of the Whitman Career Center. “’Explore and Experience’ gives students a chance to learn more about various opportunities and to become excited about future possibilities; it also gives them the ability to gain tools that will ensure their success. Even in these difficult times, our corporate partners continue to support us through donations and in-kind gifts, helping us make this event possible, for which we are grateful.”

The “Explore and Experience” program will take place in the Flaum Grand Hall and throughout the Whitman School, and is open to all SU sophomores and juniors. For more information, contact the Whitman Career Center at (315) 443-4140.
