The Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool) hosted the Deloitte Women in Consulting Forum on March 25, 2011, to encourage women to learn about the field of consulting.

The event was co-sponsored by Deloitte, Women in Information Technology (WIT), Whitman Women in Business (WWIB), Black and Latino Information Science and Technology Support (BLISTS) and the HUB speaker series. Chhavi Gupta G’11, WIT president, and Stephanie Santoso G’12, WIT project committee member, were very pleased with the event.

“Deloitte Day was the first time that WIT, BLISTS and WWIB partnered together to host an event,” Santoso said. “I thought the collaboration between our organizations was a great way to bring together students with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Deloitte has been a wonderful partner of the iSchool and this event was another great opportunity to learn from and interact with experienced industry professionals.”

Kelly Doney, senior manager at Deloitte, began the day speaking about her unique experience as a woman in the field and Deloitte’s groundbreaking Women’s Initiative. Next, a team from Deloitte discussed the Annual Report on Technology Trends 2011.

“It was a great day where students got the opportunity to get a lot of consulting career tips and information about the latest technology trends from managers at Deloitte Consulting,” Gupta said.

Approximately 35 students from the iSchool, Whitman School of Management, L.C. Smith Engineering Management and other schools attended the speaker sessions.
