Maintaining a blog dedicated to Syracuse University athletics is hard work. Okay, not really, but Sean Keeley, creator of the Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician (TNIAAM), likes to pretend it is. There are only so many jokes about Jim Boeheim, Doug Marrone, Otto and Georgetown fans he can make on his own. That’s why he needs your help.

TNIAAM is looking for an intern to contribute to the blog from March to May 2011. Key duties would include:

  • Daily posts about the latest SU sports news, events, and happenings.
  • Attending local SU-related sporting events to conduct interviews, take photos, record videos, and provide thoughts on the blog.
  • Help with site maintenance, cleaning up and monitoring the many links, social media tools, ads, and sidebar widgets.
  • Brainstorm & generate ideas for future articles, features, and site tools.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is able to dedicate 10-15 hours per week to working on TNIAAM in various capacities.
  • Understands the TNIAAM “voice” and is comfortable balancing humor with information.
  • Is passionate about SEO, Social Media, blogging, and community-building.
  • Is up to speed on Syracuse Athletics, especially basketball and lacrosse.
  • The internship is open to SU undergraduate students with an iSchool Major, Minor, or Double Major.

But if you thought this was going to be as easy as submitting an application, well, guess again.

To apply for the position, you’ll be required to attend an informational meeting on Friday, February 25, 2011, at 1 p.m. EST. The meeting will provide background on the position and Sean will be available via Skype for any questions you might have.

Students must attend the final Syracuse basketball home game of the season against DePaul on March 5, 2011 4 p.m. EST, write a blog post about the game, and submit the post to Sean Keeley no later than Sunday, March 6, 2011, 11:59 p.m. EST.

Sean will choose a yet-to-be-determined number of “semifinalists” from the entries and post their work on TNIAAM. Based on user feedback, comments, retweets, other metrics, and his own judgment, Sean will choose the winner and that student will become the official TNIAAM intern.

The winner will work with Sean on TNIAAM in the aforementioned capacity through the end of Spring Semester (roughly through the conclusion of the lacrosse season). 2nd and 3rd place entries will receive TNIAAM & SU-related consolation prizes.
