A public vigil has been arranged for Lori Bresnahan, a 1992 graduate of the School of Information Studies' (iSchool) Masters of Library and Information Science – School Media program. She was killed in an act of violence in March in the town of Clay, NY. [News story]

Bresnahan had been a librarian in the Liverpool (NY) School District, serving at Willow Field Elementary School, and previously at Chestnut Hill Elementary School. Her undergraduate degree was in childhood education from the State University of New York at Oswego.

Bresnahan's family has organized a candlelight vigil in her memory.  It will be held on Wednesday, June 19, from 8 to 9 p.m. at Onondaga Lake Park's Griffin Visitor Center.

Msgr. James T. O'Brien, the pastor of Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church in Liverpool, and Father Dennis Hayes, Chaplin of the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department, will preside over the service. The Liverpool Community Chorus and members of the parish choir of St. John's Church will provide music.

Law enforcement officials have asked those wishing to attend to consider car pooling to the park, as parking is limited at the Visitor Center.

Messages about Lori and/or to the family can be left here.

A fund has also been set up for the benefit of Bresnahan's child. Checks should be made out to the Lori Bresnahan Memorial Fund and sent to:
