The School of Information Studies (iSchool) is working with the local chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) to host a study workshop series for the PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification exam.

According to Art Thomas, Associate Professor of Practice at the iSchool, this workshop was designed, “for university students who have taken, or are presently taking, a semester Project Management course, such as IST445/IST645, or SCM456/SCM656.”

Workshop sessions begin on Thursday, February 6 and will meet weekly through March 27 (with the exception of Spring Break week) from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Katzer Room, 347 Hinds Hall.

PMI-certified Project Management Professionals from the local Syracuse Chapter of PMI will instruct the course, and the curriculum is synchronized with the latest exam version by PMI.  The pricing structure has changed this semester, the fee is $125.00 and includes participants’ exam study guide and the fee for the workshop sessions.

While the iSchool is hosting the workshop, it is not an official University course. Enrollment is handled directly through PMI-Syracuse at their local chapter website: www.pmi-syracuse.org.

The workshop syllabus (PDF) provides all appropriate information concerning the related fees and payment options as well as course content and logistics. The workshop fee is required at the first class session as per the instructions in the syllabus. Students must also join PMI and register for the CAPM Exam through separate procedures.
