Apple will likely unveil a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display at an event on October 23.

Amazon is reportedly in talks with Texas Instruments to acquire the company’s smartphone and tablet OMAP processor activity.

Microsoft has created a new streaming music service, Xbox Music, that will be offered via XBox Live, as well as on Windows Phone and Windows 8 PCs and tablets. Like its competitor Spotify, the service will be free, with the option of paying for a premium subscription.

Softbank, the third-largest mobile carrier in Japan, will purchase a 70% stake in Sprint Nextel for $20 billion. The deal is expected to complete by mid-2013, and will make Softbank one of the world’s most popular carriers, with 90 million total subscribers.

The Kindle DX, a 9.7-inch model, has been discontinued. The product is currently out of stock on Amazone, with a price decrease from $379 to $299.
