The School of Information Studies will offer a certification preparation course for Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) in Excel during the January break. The course content being delivered aligns with the course objectives of MOS exam 77-727 – Excel 2016: Core Data Analysis, Manipulation, and Presentation.

This course is designed for students who have a desire or need to advance their skills in Excel 2016, and are looking to enhance their current Excel skills to better prepare for the MOS exam.

“This training will provide students with the knowledge presented in Microsoft Office Excel 2016: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 curriculum,” says Jeffrey Fouts, Director of Instructional Technology at the iSchool. “And an MOS practice exam is included which will help students prepare for the actual exam.”

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to perform advanced data analysis, collaborate on workbooks with other users, and automate workbook functionality. They will be able to:

  • Work with multiple worksheets and workbooks
  • Use lookup functions and formula auditing
  •  Share and protect workbooks
  •  Automate workbook functionality
  •  Create sparklines and map data
  •  Forecast data

The class will be held on campus, during Syracuse University’s winter break. It will span 3 days from Tuesday, January 9 through Thursday, January 11, 2018. The class will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in 027 Hinds Hall.
