The School of Information Studies (iSchool) community mourns the loss of Katie Bennett '10 G'12.

The two-time grad (B.S., Information Management and Technology, and M.S., Information Management) worked as a technology analyst and project manager for JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Philadelphia.

Bennett was one of the original JPMorgan Chase interns in the company's collaboration with the iSchool's Global Enterprise Technology program from 2009 to 2011, and also worked for iSchool faculty member Jeffrey Rubin in his business, SIDEARM sports.

“Katie was one of the best,” said Rubin. “She worked extremely hard on any project or assignment that she had in front of her, and she was always smiling and upbeat. She loved her family and her friends, and will be deeply missed.”

“She was an all-around wonderful person and an asset to any school, team or program – especially ours,” recalls Julie Walas Huynh, Undergraduate Programs Manager at the iSchool. “Always a ready volunteer and a capable leader, Katie completed any task or assignment with a bright smile.

“Katie was constantly surrounded by friends, but stood out amongst her peers as a bright student, destined to incredible things,” Huynh continued. “I will truly miss having her as part of our Syracuse community.”

While at Syracuse, Bennett served as an iSchool Peer Advisor, worked with the Panhellenic Executive Board, was a member of Alpha Chi Omega, and the Orange Pulse Dance Troupe. At her 2010 graduation, Bennett was honored with the iSchool's Undergraduate Leadership Award.

The iSchool has created a remembrance page for friends to share their stories and honor Bennett. Her family has organized a memorial on Saturday, July 6th at 5:00 p.m. at 4172 Pennemite Rd., Livonia NY.
