On Saturday the iSchool welcomed about 40 young girl scouts to a day long program we called “GIRLS ARE I.T.” With the goals of breaking stereotypes and exciting girls about interesting opportunities in Information Technology, we planned a day of interactive fun and learning. From web design basics to social media and online safety, from becoming a research diva (information literacy) to developing a YouTube sensation, the girls were given opportunities for hands-on experiments led by some top iSchool talent. Thanks to all of our staff and students who participated and inspired the visiting Girl Scouts and a big thanks to the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways for partnering with us. It was a fun day that we hope to repeat again soon.
