The Faculty Center for Teaching & Learning at the School of Information Studies (iSchool) is holding a workshop called ‘Invigorate Your Teaching Part II’ on Monday, November 14. The session is open to all Syracuse University faculty, adjunct faculty, and Ph.D. students, and is free to attend.

Run by Peggy Takach, Director of the Faculty Center at the iSchool, and Jeffrey Fouts, the iSchool’s Director of Instructional Technology, the goal of the workshop is to help faculty members reframe and modify their approach to teaching by incorporating engaging and student-centered learning tools.

“Experienced and new faculty will benefit from learning new and engaging tricks,” said Takach.  “Once faculty find their rhythm in the classroom, they tend to rely on the same teaching strategies, activities and lesson plans, so this session outlines techniques that will inject new life into their teaching, both in the classroom and online.”

After completing the workshop, Takach and Fouts hope that attendees will be able to implement techniques to help invigorate their classrooms, assess the potential for meeting instructional goals and challenges, and create a plan for moving beyond gaining an initial understanding of selected tools to using them for specific instructional purposes.

Space is limited, and online registration required. The session will be held in 347 Hinds Hall (Katzer Room) from 5:00 – 6:30 PM on Monday, November 14.
