Lieutenant Colonel Gregory Motes from the U.S. Army Mobile Applications Branch at Fort Gordon will visit the School of Information Studies (iSchool) next week to speak with classes and give a presentation on mobile application development in the U.S. Army.
Motes’ presentation, slated for Noon on Monday, September 19, will discuss the path that the Army has taken to examine the adoption of smart phones within its ranks.
This will include detailed information about the possibilities and pitfalls that have been met in the Connecting Soldiers to Digital Applications (CSDA) program, as well as descriptions of the multiple interconnected pieces of the mobile application ecosystem. These pieces include content creation, application development, application security and distribution, mobile device management and network technologies required to support mobile devices and applications
The Army team at Fort Gordon has developed over 75 applications for Android, iPhone and Windows devices, and has existing relationships with partners in industry and academia, including Google, Apple, Microsoft, Research in Motion, University of Central Florida, Carnegie Mellon, and the United States Military Academy.
The presentation will be held in the Innovation Studio – Hinds Hill 011 – and is open to the public.
