iSchool Awards

In addition to being nominated by an iSchool faculty or staff member, iSchool students may nominate themselves for a graduation award. Winners will be notified prior to graduation.

The Dean’s Award is for academic excellence in the School of Information Studies.  It acknowledges academic achievement, intellectual growth and innovation, and contributions to the academic environment at Syracuse University.

This is an annual award presented to one outstanding graduate student and one outstanding undergraduate student who have demonstrated excellence in the area of information systems through research. 

Named in memory of Katie Bennett ’10, an extraordinary iSchool student leader, this is the most prestigious award given by the iSchool to an outstanding undergraduate student who demonstrates all around excellence as a student, made contributions to the school through service, and who serves as a role model for other students. 

This is an annual award presented to one outstanding undergraduate student who has demonstrated excellence in professional practice in the field of information management and technology by assuming a leadership role in the workforce at an accelerated pace, and/or has had their ideas for change integrated into the company in which they have interned or worked.   

This annual award is presented to one outstanding undergraduate student who has demonstrated excellence in innovation in the field of information management and technology through innovative projects or start up ventures, particularly as it has solved a challenging problem or made notable contributions to the IM&T field and/or start up community.  It is given in memory of Adam Levitt ’03, an iSchool graduate who demonstrated innovative and tireless spirit working for Lockheed Martin, the Trade Card Co, and then founded 12Twenty, a cloud based software platform integrating job tracking and on-campus recruitment. 

This award is given to one iSchool senior who exemplifies a priority to serve others in their daily life.  They have taken advantage of opportunities in the Syracuse community to impact both the campus and our global community. 

This award is made to an outstanding School of Information Studies senior who demonstrates overall academic achievement. This award is made possible because of a scholarship established by former Dean Don Marchand to recognize an outstanding senior based on scholarship. 

This award was established by Dr. and Mrs. John Everett in memory of their daughter, Amy Everett G’85. Amy was a graduate of the Information Resources Management degree program and she was dedicated to the ethical use of information in donor research. The award is given to an outstanding student(s) on the basis of a paper that addresses ethical issues in information management.

Who is eligible to apply: all current on-campus and online iSchool M.S. Applied Data Science, M.S. in Enterprise Data sysytems, M.S. in Information Management, and C.A.S. students.

This award is made to a School of Information Studies graduate student in Library and Information Science specializing in School Media, who exemplifies perseverance and sets a high standard for him/herself, which Angela inspired in so many of her colleagues in the school media program.

Who is eligible to apply: all current on-campus and online iSchool M.S. in Library and Information Science with School Media Specialization and C.A.S. in School Media students.

This award is made to an outstanding School of Information Studies graduate student in Library and Information Science who exemplifies the qualities of a passion for learning and a dedication to service, which Professor Emerita Antje Lemke inspired in so many students. This award was established in honor of Professor Emerita Antje Lemke, who retired in 1986 after 35 years of teaching and service. She was (and is) respected as an expert in the areas of art, history, philosophy, museums, archives and theology and renowned as a humanitarian for her writings on Albert Schweitzer. The Lemke Book Award is given annually to an outstanding LIS student who embodies Antje’s devotion to libraries and scholarship

Who is eligible to apply: all current on-campus and online iSchool M.S. in Library and Information Science students.

This is an annual award presented to one outstanding graduate student and one outstanding undergraduate student who have demonstrated excellence in the area of information systems through coursework, research or internships.

Who is eligible to apply: all current on-campus and online iSchool M.S. Applied Data Science, M.S. in Enterprise Data systems, M.S. in Information Management, and C.A.S. students.

This is the most prestigious award given by the iSchool to an outstanding Graduate student who demonstrates all around excellence as a student, made contributions to the school through service on committees or in student organizations, and who serves as a role model for other students.

Who is eligible to apply: all current on-campus and online iSchool master’s and C.A.S. students.

This award recognizes one student in each graduate program who exemplifies excellence in graduate study, through class projects, research, and other forms of scholarship.

Who is eligible to apply: all current on-campus and online M.S. in Applied Data Science students.

This award recognizes one student in each graduate program who exemplifies excellence in graduate study, through class projects, research, and other forms of scholarship.

Who is eligible to apply: all current on-campus M.S. in Enterprise Data Systems students.

This award recognizes one student in each graduate program who exemplifies excellence in graduate study, through class projects, research, and other forms of scholarship.
