The School of Information Studies (iSchool) will host an alumni gathering at the American Library Association's summer conference in Chicago on Sunday, June 30.

All iSchool alumni are invited to attend and help celebrate 20 Years in Distance and Online Education and the inauguration of iSchool faculty member Barbara Stripling as ALA President

The gathering will be held from 5:30 – 7:30pm at the Hilton Chicago's International South Room.

Lessons for the Librarian: 10 Tips for Teaching the One-Shot Instruction Session (ACRL)

Academic librarians teach every day. They teach diverse audiences in a variety of venues, but one teaching scenario remains quintessential: the one-shot library instruction session. In recognition of the centrality of the “one-shot,” this panel shares time-tested “lessons” for librarians that teach in this format. These lessons provide a range of strategies for developing pedagogically sound one-shot library instruction sessions and can be grouped loosely into three categories: planning, delivery, and integration. Speakers include Megan Oakleaf, iSchool at Syracuse University Associate Professor.
