Isabella is a Ph.D. Candidate at the iSchool. Isabella’s work is situated at the intersection of science and technology studies, human-computer interaction, human-centered design, and migration studies. She is interested in studying infrastructuring practices in different sociotechnical and sociocultural landscapes and exploring how infrastructures are manifested through relationships and networks. She believes this type of work needs critical approaches with robust ethnographic methods that work with both humans and artifacts from an action-centered approach. Bella holds a B.A in Anthropology and International Relations from Syracuse University and an M.A in Migration and Intercultural Relations from the European Masters of Migration and Intercultural Relations (EMMIR), a scholarship program funded by the European Commission that includes a consortium of 9 schools across Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Isabella looks forward to more teaching opportunities in her time at the iSchool but has so far taught IST 343: Data in Society, a class focusing on how society creates and is created by digital data and algorithms.

In her spare time, Isabella loves reading fantasy fiction and showing visitors and friends the many reasons why one should love the Upstate New York region.
