The School of Information Studies (iSchool) is proud to recognize seniors Andy Pregler and Rachel Wolsky who were selected as members of Syracuse University’s 2014 Homecoming Court.

Syracuse University students nominate Homecoming Court members to represent the embodiment of Orange Pride. Pregler and Wolsky are two of ten seniors who were selected for their academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, and school spirit. The Homecoming Court is a part of Orange Central, a week of festivities for students and alumni to celebrate traditions and to connect with Syracuse University’s past and present.

Pregler and Wolsky are both dual majors with the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Information Management & Technology. Wolsky is an active member of CitrusTV, a member of Gamma Phi Beta, Otto’s Army, and an Orientation Leader. Pregler displays his school spirit as a member of University 100, as an iSchool Peer Advisor, and an intern for Syracuse University Athletics.

Wolsky, who considers herself made of “two parts orange, one part glitter,” was honored to be a part of this year’s Homecoming Court and represent the university. “Syracuse University is my home, and the amount of support and love people have given to me is incredible. To be able to make an impact on current and future students at SU means so much to me,” said Wolsky.

Pregler and Wolsky feel that the iSchool has been a rewarding experience that pivoted the direction of their careers in positive ways.  Pregler hopes to pursue a career involving social media and explore the digital space in broadcast journalism.

“The iSchool opened my eyes to the possibilities that technology has to offer. Professors and staff like Julie Walas Huynh have supported me during my career to help me get better as a professional and person,” said Pregler.

For Pregler, Homecoming represents an opportunity to engage students and connect with alumni. One of the most striking ways has experienced this connection during academic career was through the MLB College Challenge, an iSchool hack-a-thon hosted by MLBAM employees who are Syracuse University alumni.

“I have grown each year through the challenge and improved my skills in technology and public speaking,” said Pregler. “I hope that as an alumnus I can continue to give back to SU and the iSchool in any way I can because they have done so much for me.”
