The School of Information Studies (iSchool) is hosting the October meeting of the Syracuse Chapter of the Social Media Breakfast group.
Slated for October 15, the topic of discussion will be social media and politics, and speakers include iSchool associate professor Jenny Stromer-Galley, and Syracuse Post-Standard political writer Michelle Breidenbach.
Stromer-Galley is an expert on the political uses of social media. In addition to her faculty position at the iSchool, she is vice president of the Association of Internet Researchers, and associate editor of the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication. Stromer-Galley recently published “Presidential Campaigning in the Internet Age,” an examination of how presidential campaigns have changed over the last 20 years.
Michelle Breidenbach has covered government and politics for the Post-Standard and Syracuse.com for over 17 years.
The Syracuse Social Media Breakfast group is a local chapter of a broader movement in numerous communities across the United States and in several other countries that brings social media practitioners and enthusiasts together for networking and educational programs on various social and digital media topics.
The Syracuse chapter was founded in January 2013 and has since staged regular monthly programs that are open for anyone to attend.
The October 15 session begins at 7:30 AM in the iCafe on the ground floor of Hinds Hall on the Syracuse University campus. Complimentary parking is available at the nearby Booth Garage. Breakfast will be served.
