The School of Information Studies (iSchool) and Liverpool, NY-based Polaris Library Systems are providing a forum for academic librarians to discuss economic and technological changes to the library landscape during the first Grand Challenge Summit for academic libraries on Thursday, November 10.
The Grand Challenge Summit is intended to prompt greater innovation and collaboration in Library and Information Science by establishing the Grand Challenges in the field, and documenting a process of assessing and accelerating the field’s progress toward these challenges.
Held online via Adobe Connect, this event is open to all academic librarians, and will be an interactive session. Best practices, questions, opinions and action steps will be documented and compiled into a position paper to be distributed after the event.
Professor and Dean’s Scholar for the New Librarianship R. David Lankes will lead the discussion. Members of the academic library community and industry thought leaders will help to facilitate several breakout sessions, where attendees will be encouraged to participate and contribute to the conversation.
Breakout sessions include, Facilitating Lifelong Learning, The Science of Facilitation, Turning Consumers Into Participants, and Technology and the Academic Library.
