School of Information Studies (iSchool) Assistant Professor Megan Oakleaf will serve as the key facilitator and designer of a series of summits that will address the academic library profession’s need to develop the skills to document and communicate library value in alignment with the missions and goals of colleges and universities.
The summits, organized by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and funded by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), will bring together post-secondary academic administrators, researchers, representatives from accreditation commissions and higher education organizations and academic librarians. Participants at the events will focus on assessment issues spanning the academy and explore ways for libraries to advance the core mission of their respective institutions.
“By bringing together the major players in higher education, ACRL is actively supporting librarians who seek to develop and communicate academic library value in the context of college and university missions and goals,” said Oakleaf. “I’m both excited and honored to facilitate the summits made possible through this IMLS funding.”
The project will help to accomplish some of the key objectives of ACRL’s broader initiative on the Value of Academic Libraries.
