Four students in the M.S. in Telecommunications and Network Management program are attending the 2010 Interop Conference and Exhibition in New York City, thanks to the generosity of United Business Media (UBM), publisher of Network Computing Magazine and owner of the Interop, the largest networking convention and trade show. Each of the four students will receive a conference pass, valued at $2,095, and the iSchool will contribute funding for the transportation and two nights of hotel accommodations for the students selected to attend.

The students selected to attend are Anirudh Nagesh, Harshit Kapoor, Lingwen Zhang, and Shruti Pravin Worlikar. They will attend the conference from October 20 – 22 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.

“Attending Interop conference gives the students an opportunity to view world class presentations in a variety of IT topics given by industry experts,” said Mike Fratto, editor of Network Computing. “It’s a good time to explore the exhibition floor to see product demonstrations and learn about the newest technologies.”

Interop, a premier business technology networking conference, will highlight key technologies such as cloud computing, green information technology, storage, information security, and mobile businesses, which reduce business cost, increase productivity, and help companies flourish.

The students will chronicle their experiences, making special note of products, news, and interactions that stood out to them the most. Some of their comments may end up on Network Computing’s web site.

They will report back what they learned to the iSchool community during a public presentation. That event is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, November 5 in Hinds Hall.
