Pinterest has just announced a new feature called related pins in order to spur discovery of new, interesting content. Related Pins are picked specially for you based on the unique things you’re into, such as other pins you’ve saved or liked. These images will blend into your feed and form a seamless integration with the Pinterest design you already know and love. These pins are different from sponsored pins, as related pins are not purchased by a brand to appear on your account. You will also be able to vote related pins up and down to control the type of content suggestions you receive.

If you look all the way to the left of your Twitter account on the website, you may recognize the Who to Follow section that suggests accounts similar to those you already follow. Jumping off this idea, Twitter account @MagicRecs sends personalized recommendations as direct messages (DMs) when something interesting happens in your network. All you have to do is start by saying “hey” to this account. You’ll  form a conversation with @MagicRecs and even give feedback as to whether or not the recommendations are pleasing to you.

Twitter also recently took the concept, “A Picture’s Worth a Thousand Words,” and made its social network much more visual. You no longer have to click to expand images, as a picture (or Vine) will appear seamlessly in your timeline. This new feature is great news for marketers because now, there’s no action required in order to see your material. Do you think this update is related to Twitter’s upcoming IPO?

SoundCloud recently announced a partnership with our beloved social network Instagram. This collaborative effort lets you upload photos you have taken on Instagram as album art on any of your tracks or playlists. SoundCloud CEO Alex Ljung commented on the partnership by saying, “We’re the largest audio platform and they’re the largest photo platform. It’s cool to tie them together.”
