Sandra Reid serves as Senior Corporate Counsel for Westfield Retail Solutions, the technology division for the multinational property development and management company Westfield Corporation. In her current role, Ms. Reid is responsible for cyber security, technology transactions, privacy, employment, product development and regulatory compliance.
Prior to joining Westfield Retail Solutions, Ms. Reid worked for close to a decade at Yahoo Inc. as the lead attorney for the e-commerce and mobile divisions - managing strategic transactions and product compliance. In this role, she worked directly with engineers, product managers and business development teams to anticipate and manage global legal risks associated with product launches – requiring her to manage risk from the structure of back-end product platforms -- to the look and feel of user interfaces.
Prior to that, Ms. Reid worked as counsel for New Century Mortgage overseeing all technology transactions and IT procurement for the company. Before her tenure at New Century Mortgage, Ms. Reid was an intellectual property associate at the boutique intellectual property firm Cowan Liebowitz and Latman, P.C., managing technology transactions as well as multinational trademark programs for several clients, including Major League Baseball and SharkNijna Operating LLC the makers of the world-famous Shark household products.
Ms. Reid earned a master’s degree in information management from Syracuse University’s iSchool while simultaneously getting her juris doctor from Syracuse University’s College of Law. In addition, she earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Hunter College (CUNY).
Ms. Reid is passionate about encouraging girls to focus on STEM programs and for women to pursue careers in technology. She has appeared at the iSchool’s IT Girls events and has provided financial support for the program. Ms. Reid also mentors current students and alumnae who have attended the iSchool and the College of Law. In addition, Ms. Reid sits on the board of directors for Innneract Project, a San Francisco Bay Area non-profit that trains inner city children in design, helps them develop a design portfolio and provides exposure to design careers in the technology field.
Ms. Reid resides in the San Francisco Bay Area where she takes advantage of the close proximity to some of the best camping, hiking and rock climbing California has to offer.
