Mike Harasimowicz, a 1989 Syracuse University School of Engineering graduate, is chief operating officer of NEXT PEAK, a U.S. veteran-owned, Texas-based cyber defense advisory and operational capacity building firm that provides game-changing, defense-focused risk management services.
Prior to his appointment there in September 2019, Harasimowicz served as managing director of data analytics and corporate development in the Intelligent Solutions Group at J.P. Morgan Chase. There, Mike led a team that leveraged big data and artificial intelligence to lead executive data-driven decision-making and risk reduction activity within the financial services industry. His team also was responsible for developing edge technology in artificial intelligence for decision aids, risk and control mechanisms, exception processing tools, and improved defenses against cyberattacks and insider threats.
Harasimowicz retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2015 as wing commander of the 688th Cyberspace Wing after 25 years of innovating new cybersecurity and intelligence technologies. He also led security activities within the National Security Agency and the U.S. Cyber Command and served as director for defense policy and strategy within President Barack Obama’s National Security Council.
He has also served as an executive consultant for the Department of Defense’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center and several cyber security and data analytics companies providing insights in behavioral analytics in human, network and financial domains.
