Karen Steinberg is a senior IT executive with more than 35 years of experience in the life, property and casualty, and insurance brokerage industries. Ms. Steinberg’s experience includes vice president of application development for the MONY Life Insurance Company, director of the Insurance Center of Excellence for Computer Sciences Corporation, and insurance business development and consulting for IBM.
From 2000 to 2008, Ms. Steinberg was the CIO for the Americas division of Aon Risk Services, a $1.5 billion division of Aon Corporation, the world’s largest insurance broker. Ms. Steinberg led the IT functions in the United States, Canada, and Latin America; managed a $155 million budget; and was responsible for many large applications, strategic projects, and a significant reduction in costs through outsourcing and other measures. In 2008 and 2009, Ms. Steinberg worked for CSC as a client relationship executive for several strategic insurance accounts.
Ms. Steinberg is currently the President of the Board of Trustees for the Manlius, NY library, works as an executive coach for Treeline Consulting, and consults part-time for insurance industry IT organizations. Ms. Steinberg and her husband Alan are both graduates of SU’s College of Arts and Sciences. She has been a member of the iSchool board since November 2009.
