Alland Leandre is founder, president, and CEO of a Maryland-based management consulting company called Vyalex Management Solutions (VMS). VMS started as a subcontractor to companies that provide engineering services to the Naval Air Systems Command. Since its launch in 2002, VMS has expanded significantly. The business grew to 32 employees by 2007, and from 2007 to 2008 alone, it doubled its revenue. In addition, VMS has partnered with organizations such as Morgan State University and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation to launch an experiential learning program that benefits both the firm and the students.
In 2008, Mr. Leandre founded the Youth in Technology Summit, an annual Science Technology Engineering and Math forum designed to inspire students to seek a career in technology and provide them with incentives to excel in the areas of math and science by providing hands on experience in technology and mentoring.
Minority Business Entrepreneurs named Mr. Leandre to their list of top 100 entrepreneurs for outstanding achievements in business development, client satisfaction, professional affiliations, and community involvement in 2007. Mr. Leandre also received the Entrepreneur Award at the 2008 Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference. He holds an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering from Syracuse University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He has been a member of the iSchool Board since November 2009.
