Mary C MacDonald
overviewMary C. MacDonald is Professor and Head of Instructional Services at the Carothers Library, University of Rhode Island, where she oversees the information literacy instruction program which includes a set of credit bearing general education information literacy courses. At URI Mary teaches LIB 150: Search Strategies for the Information Age, LIB 350: Current Issues of the Information Age; and for the URI Graduate School of Library and Information Studies: LSC 502: Lead, Manage,and Connect, and LSC 527 Digital Information Literacy Instruction. Mary has served on several ACRL Instruction Section committees and taught for the ACRL Immersion Program (2006 - 2014). Mary is the 2017 ACRL Instruction Section Miriam Dudley Instruction award winner. A member of the Rhode Island Library Association Board, she is also the founder and co-chair of the RILA Information Literacy Action Round Table (ILART). Mary and her URI colleagues were awarded the ACRL Innovation in Instruction Award in 2006. She is co-author of Teaching Information Literacy: 30 Practical Standards Based Exercises for College Students (ALA Editions, 2003) and Teaching Information Literacy:50 Standards Based Exercises for College Students (ALA Editions, 2010). At URI she was awarded the Faculty Outstanding Service award for 2013.
