Gregory Zink


Greg earned his Masters of Information Management and Certificate of Advanced Study in Information Security Management from Syracuse University’s School of Information. He also has been certified by GSA’s CIO University in Federal Executive Competencies.  Additionally, he is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).  He earned a Bachelors of Science in Business, Management and Economics from New York State Empire State College.

Greg has over two decades of technology experience in New York State Government.  He started out as a COBOL, Java and Mainframe systems programmer. He then took on leadership roles as Manager of e-Business and Web Apllication Development and Director of Enterprise Technical Services.  Greg then took on executive level roles as CIO for the NYS Division of Budget and then lead the NYS Statewide Financial System as the Agency Head and its massive ERP implementation.

Today, Greg now works for the centralized NYS Office of Information Technology Services (NYS ITS), which provide every aspect of technology for all NYS Executive branch agencies.  At NYS ITS he has held several executive roles as Director of Enterprise Architecture, Director of Application Portfolio Rationalization, and he is presently serving as Deputy Executive Director of Solutions and Strategies for the Administrative and Generals Services Portfolio.


Greg first arrived on the 'Hill' as an undergraduate in 1985. He has made many lifelong friends from his time as a member of the Sour Sitrus Society and Pride of the Orange Marching Band as a saxophonist. He is an active member of the Syracuse University Athletic Bands Alumni Club, having played recently in the Dome, MSG and Barclays for SU Men's Basketball games. He is a member of 2 community concert bands and 1 big band, playing both alto and tenor saxophone.

Greg is a life long learner who has been fortunate to be inspired and guided by many talented people throughout his lifetime.  Being part of the iSchool community will allow him to share his varied experiences in a collegial manner with today's and tomorrow's talented technologists and leaders, as well as learning from their expertise.
