Reflecting on my Italian Summer

Throughout my time at Essére Atelier in Florence this summer, I learned so much about the world of marketing as well as global perspectives.

A Life-changing Summer

This experience made me think again about the classes that I will be taking during my next 2 years. While I loved getting to work in the social media marketing field, I have decided that I am more interested in working with programming or building/improving a platform.

After talking with my parents about my experience, they gave me the reassurance that not every internship is a perfect fit, but rather a stepping stone to help you in deciding a future career. I think it’s important to live and learn as everything happens for a reason.

What Happens Next

During my next 2 years at Syracuse I am excited to take more programming classes and explore possible career paths. I plan on continuing my many extracurriculars and improving my time management skills.

Something I have noticed about myself is that I am a planner. I am always looking forward to the next thing, no matter what I am doing at the moment. Now that I am halfway through my time at Syracuse I want to cherish what I have left.

My advice for internships is that you get out what you put in. Showing up is just the first step! It’s the hard work, motivation, and enthusiasm that leaves an impression on employers and co-workers – networking never sleeps!

Expressing Gratitude

I would like to thank the Syracuse University staff for planning a great summer and making my time abroad so memorable. By placing me at Essére Atelier, I was able to gain great experience and narrow down the path that I would like to take in my future career.

This summer was truly one I will never forget. I would wholeheartedly recommend an abroad summer session to anybody who is conflicted between going abroad and not wanting to miss out on their time at Syracuse.

This program gave me wonderful opportunities as well as new memories and friendships that I will always look back on. I can’t wait to be back on campus so soon!
