2019 Graduate Summer Internship Bloggers

Meet the 2019 Graduate Summer Internship Bloggers!

iSchool graduate students have a huge range of interests, and our program offerings are incredibly diverse. So it only makes sense that our graduate students embark on some of the most interesting and coveted summer internship out there.

Today, you’ll meet five iSchool graduate students who are starting their summer internships.

Who are the summer internship bloggers? Every summer, select iSchool students share their internship experience on InfoSpace. You’ll hear their challenges and successes of going through a summer internship in their own words.

This year, we split our introductions into two parts. If you missed the introduction of our undergraduate students last week, get caught up!

Let’s meet our graduate summer bloggers.

Interning with NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority)

M.S. in Applied Data Science

I’m Palani, second year graduate student studying Applied Data Science in iSchool. I was born and brought up in Chennai, India. Having worked as a Business Analyst in Accenture for 2 years, I’ve come here for my graduate studies. As a business analyst, I have always been fascinated by the story data can tell when it is mined. That’s what got me to do my masters in this field.

After having finished 3 semesters in my master’s program, I finally got an internship opportunity with NYSERDA in Albany. I’m working as a Data Analyst for a team which overlooks the single-family residential homes in the state of New York.

Currently they are working on an initiative which would help homes around NY state set up energy efficient cooling and heating systems. I’m helping them in targeting the geographic locations, determining the incentives to be provided for the new system, and bunch of different aspects of this new project

Interning with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum

M.S. in Library and Information Science

My name is Elizabeth ‘Ruby’ Williamson. I am starting my second year in the Library and Information Science graduate program at Syracuse University. I grew up just north of Austin, Texas, which explains my passion for queso and breakfast tacos.

This summer, I will be interning at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a cataloging intern in their library. I am so excited to join this great institution and be a part of the work they are doing. I will be working on processing and cataloging books for their collection; I’m looking forward to building my skills and learning as much as I possibly can. It is a huge honor, and I can’t wait to get started!
