Today, the School of Information Studies (iSchool) launched ReFuel: The Annual Campaign for the iSchool. In its fifth year, ReFuel is a crowdfunding-style campaign that showcases four iSchool initiatives and offers $20,000 in challenge funding for participating programs.
Featuring four signature student-centered programs, the ReFuel campaign reignites innovation at the iSchool. Each gift made to ReFuel - beginning on Friday, March 1 - is a vote towards challenge funding offered by iSchool Board of Advisors member Sam Clarvit ’10. The campaign will run for one month, closing at 11:59 p.m. on March 31.
The four initiatives vying for the top slot in challenge funding are: the Liz Liddy Legacy Fund, the BLISTS (Black and Latinx Information Science and Technology Support) Fund , the Library Innovation Fund, and the Road Trips Fund.
Each donor gift via the ReFuel website to one of these initiatives counts as a "vote" for challenge funding, and the total support contributed through this effort ensures that all of these programs will benefit iSchool students in the years to come.
The program that receives the greatest number of gifts by the end of the ReFuel campaign on March 31 will receive $8,000 in challenge funding. The second place program will earn $6,000, third place will earn $4,000, and fourth place will earn $2,000.
“ReFuel give us the opportinity to bring the entire iSchool community togther - students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents and friends - to realize our joint impact for good,” said Abigail McNeal-Harris, Assistant Director for Advancement Services at the iSchool. “We’re grateful to alumnus Sam Clarvit for providing the challenge funding, as it allows us to build energy around this campaign for our launch, and I’m excited to watch the progress through the month of March as we raise funds for these important student initiatives at the iSchool.”
