History

Tradition of Service

Syracuse University’s long-standing tradition of service and support of the military famously began when Chancellor William Tolley promised a spot at Syracuse for all veterans returning from WWII—and the student body at the University almost doubled overnight. As veterans became alumni, Chancellor Tolley’s promise catalyzed a strong and lasting relationship between Syracuse University and the US military.

25 Years of Online Education

Our programs are flexible and adaptable to both veterans and active-duty military. The iSchool has offered online programs for 25 years, resulting in experienced faculty and staff who are there to help you reach your career goals, no matter where you are. Understanding that many of the students looking to further their education had military backgrounds, we sought to create strategic partnerships to make it easier for veterans to attend the iSchool and focus on the next step in their careers.

The Original Information School

The ability to discover, manipulate, and strategically leverage information is paramount. The iSchool is the original information school, meaning that in addition to a history of supporting service men and women, the iSchool also has a rich experience in teaching these critical skills.
