Graduation Requirements

All students completing degree requirements in May/June/August and the previous December are invited to attend the Commencement activities in May. It is important that you file the Diploma Request via MySlice by the published deadline dates to be included in Commencement mailings. You will not be included in the printed Commencement program if you do not complete the Diploma Request by the deadline.

Undergraduate Students

After meeting for your senior check with an undergraduate academic counselor, please be sure to complete and submit the Diploma Request using MySlice. More information on Diploma Requests

Master's Students

Campus students should submit their Program of Study form (found on the Advising Forms page) to Online students should submit their forms to their online student support advisor.

Students also need to file a diploma request through MySlice and they will be notified of the deadline to file via the listservs from the graduate academic advisor.

Doctoral Students

  • Review and bookmark the Graduate School website.

  • Note the Graduate Dates and Deadlines section of the Grad School website.

  • A Program of Study form should be filed at the beginning of the semester you plan to graduate.  The link to this form is on the Grad School website.

  • The Graduate School requires students to complete and submit a Request for Examination form at least three weeks prior to the defense date.  The link to this form is on the Grad School website.

  • A Diploma Request should be filed on MySlice the semester you plan to graduate.

  • Review the thesis/dissertation defense checklist on the Grad School website

  • Consult the Format Guidelines for Dissertation document for required printing specifications. They will not accept dissertations that do not comply with their specifications.

  • Read the Electronic Dissertation/Thesis Submittal checklist when you are done with your document and are ready to submit the final copy.
