Have you ever wondered what kinds of internships iSchool students take over the summer? Look no further than following our Summer Internship Bloggers.

Who are the summer internship bloggers? Every summer, select iSchool students share their internship experience on InfoSpace. You’ll hear their challenges and successes of going through a summer internship in their own words.

This year, we split our introductions into two parts. Today, you’ll meet the undergraduate students. On Friday you’ll get to meet our graduate students.

Let’s meet our bloggers!

Interning with EY
Major in Information Management & Technology, minors in Psychology and Computer Science

My name is Mysha Fairuz and I am a rising junior majoring in Information Management and Technology with a concentration in Information Security and a minor in Psychology and Computer Science. I am from Dhaka, Bangladesh but I moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas a couple of years ago. I love traveling and trying out different types of cuisine!

I chose my Launch internship because I wanted to learn more about the company, and my place in it. I believe professional development is important through hands on experience, thus I wanted to challenge myself and step out of my comfort zone to join EY San Jose’s family.

Launch is an eight week summer program involving integrated yet diverse learning combined with practical work experience. I will be attending training and orientation sessions in Dallas before flying out to San Jose to get a practical experience of EY’s challenging work environment. During my rotational program, I will be working with Core Business Services (CBS) group, including:

  • Human Resources and Recruiting
  • Marketing
  • Center for Business Knowledge
  • Finance
  • Independence
  • Enterprise Support Services (ESS)
  • Information Technology
  • Business Development

In addition, I will be able to shadow Ernst & Young professionals serving our clients in the Assurance, Advisory, and Tax practices and have the opportunity to connect and consult with mentors and attend workshops to hone my skills as an intern. Lastly, I will be able to experience community service events that EY partakes in during my internship.

Hi there! I’m a rising senior in the School of Information Studies, studying Information Management & Technology with a minor in Marketing. At Syracuse, I am a Technology Consultant at Information Technology Services and a peer advisor in the iSchool.

I’m from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, but this summer I’ve slightly relocated to Philadelphia to intern for URBN as a Software Engineer Summer Associate. URBN is a collection of global consumer brands made up of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, BHLDN, Terrain, and the Vetri Family.

Over the next ten weeks, I’ll be working on URBN’s Web team within their Information Technology department. In this role, a goal I have for myself is to strengthen my technical communication. I look forward to working in a dog friendly office and searching for the perfect cheese steak.

Interning with Gensler
Major in Information Management & Technology

My name is Taylor Lucero, and I’m a rising senior in the iSchool, majoring in Information Management and Technology with concentrations in both Information Security and Data Analytics.

Born into a military family, I have never stayed in one place for too long. This has given me exposure to wide array of individuals and cultures that have helped define as the person I am today. This summer I was hired as a Shared Services Intern at Gensler, which is an integrated architecture, design , planning and consulting firm, in their D.C. office. As a Shared Service intern, I will be a part of the IT department helping to troubleshoot a variety situations, while helping to manage their network systems. This includes intensive collaboration with individuals present in the building as well as across the US.

I’m excited for the possibilities and opportunities ahead of me. Go Orange!

Interning with Essere Atelier, a boutique in Florence, Italy
Dual Major in Information Management & Technology and Advertising

Ciao da Firenze! My name is Lexah Pyskadlo and I’m a rising junior studying Advertising and Information Management and Technology. On campus I am involved in the iSchool Peer Advisors, Syracuse Football Recruiting, SIDEARM Sports, Women’s Club Volleyball, and Greek life.

This summer I am studying abroad for six weeks in Florence, Italy. I am taking a class at the SU Florence campus regarding the Italian Mafia, as well as interning at a local boutique, Essere Atelier.

For my internship at Essere Atelier I will be working with the owner of the store to market her shop, grow their social media presence, and share some of her beautiful designs with people around the world. I’m very excited to see what it is like working in another country, while hopefully learning to speak more Italian!
