Mission: Explore the intersection of games and libraries. Provide advice to librarians about the most appropriate gaming activities for different demographic groups and library goals and provide advice to the gaming industry about the needs of libraries and schools regarding gaming.
 
Projects:
  • Portable Library Gaming Lab – A traveling interactive exhibit of board, card, and video games designed to expose librarians to the breadth of gaming experiences.
  • Annual Gaming Census – An annual survey designed to collect information about gaming programs in all types of libraries.
  • American Library Association – Working with the ALA to provide research assistance on several funded projects, such as the assessment of gaming programs in libraries.

The Game Lab explores the intersection of games and libraries, providing advice to librarians about the most appropriate gaming activities for different demographic groups and library goals as well as advice to the gaming industry about the needs of libraries and schools regarding gaming.
Convergence Center

This research center focuses on exploring “digital convergence,” which refers to the profound changes in the structure of media caused by the emergence of digital technologies as the dominant method for representing, storing, and communicating information. A major initiative is the Internet Governance Project.
