Mission:
CENT’s mission is three fold:
1.) To provide leading industry insight and analysis with regard to emerging information technologies within enterprise IT, and to provide this analysis through applied, hands-on testing of new products and services within our research areas.
2.) To enhance the educational experience of both undergraduate and graduate students of the iSchool at Syracuse University, and to accomplish this through assisting faculty members with technology elements in their classes, assisting students with hands-on technology projects, and bringing CENT’s applied research expertise into the classroom through the creation of IT labs in coordination with the iSchool’s Information Technology Experiential Learning Lab.
3.) To improve the community at large through work with the CASE Center IT Roundtable, consulting with local businesses and involvement with other community projects within the iSchool and Syracuse University.

  • Wireless Networking: 802.11 WLANs (802.11a/b/g/n), wireless WANs (WiMAX, 3G, EVDO, UMTS) fixed wireless
  • Unified Communications: Voice over IP, SIP, Fixed Mobile Convergence, Mobile to Mobile Convergence
  • Enterprise Networking: (WAN optimization, Network Access Control, 10G Ethernet, carrier Ethernet)
  • Mobile Applications: Mobile e-mail, security, device management, mobile devices (Symbian, Windows Mobile)
Convergence Center

This research center focuses on exploring “digital convergence,” which refers to the profound changes in the structure of media caused by the emergence of digital technologies as the dominant method for representing, storing, and communicating information. A major initiative is the Internet Governance Project.
Library Game Lab of Syracuse

The Game Lab explores the intersection of games and libraries, providing advice to librarians about the most appropriate gaming activities for different demographic groups and library goals as well as advice to the gaming industry about the needs of libraries and schools regarding gaming.
