Academic Programs
The B.S. in Information Management and Technology prepares students for a range of careers by giving them the technical, communication, and management skills needed in almost every work environment. Syracuse iSchool students understand the importance of knowing how to:
- find information through online resources and digital databases,
- present information through multimedia software or on web sites,
- assess and use that information in making decisions, and
- serve as a liaison between technical workers and senior level management within an organization.
Syracuse iSchool students have great flexibility in selecting their courses to create a program that is unique to their particular interests. The required 40 credits taken within the iSchool provide a solid foundation in technology, management, communication, and information studies. These core courses are less technical than computer science or engineering programs, and are more technical than traditional management and communications courses.
Students can develop specialty areas, double majors, or minors through the degree program’s remaining 80 credits, which can be taken in the iSchool or any of the eight other undergraduate schools and colleges at Syracuse University.
