Syracuse University-JPMorgan Chase Collaboration

In June 2007, JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Syracuse University established a unique corporate-university collaboration and joint venture. The purpose of the collaboration is to develop education and work experience innovations in the area of financial services information technology, leveraging each other’s knowledge and expertise in the building of a best in class curriculum for entry level technologists and to collaborate on projects of joint interest that provide value to both organizations and to society. New Minor

The School of Information Studies is home to the 18-credit, interdisciplinary Global Enterprise Technology minor. This minor prepares students from any major to understand how one develops and manages global enterprise information systems. Learn more at http://globaltech.syr.edu

Internship Program

JPMorgan Chase’s standard 10-week summer internship program was enhanced for all Syracuse University interns to provide an experience that embodied experiential and problem-based learning principles. A new Global Enterprise Technology internship program challenges interns to engage in multiple work experience and internship opportunities with JPMorgan Chase and industry partners throughout their college education. The company also offers extended internships that carries into fall and spring semesters, and a program in the summer in India.

Speaker Series

JPMorgan Chase & Co. established a Speaker Series to enhance the educational experience of Syracuse University students. To this end, JPMorgan Chase offers the expertise of its employees and other professionals who bring a wealth of relevance and industry perspective to the Syracuse University campus. In Fall 2008, six professionals from JPMorgan Chase, including a human resources executive, chief enterprise architect, and chief technology officer, as well as IBM executive Nick Donofrio visited campus to present and to meet with students.

Research Projects

The selection of projects appropriate for the partnership is driven by both academic and business criteria. After consideration of JPMorgan Chase’s business needs and Syracuse University’s research interests, an initial set of three research projects were launched in January 2008, focusing on: Workforce Collaboration in a Distributed Global Environment; Pattern Matching Algorithms to Improve Fraud Detection; and Risk Mitigation for Employee Identity and IT Application Access Management

Technology Center

JPMorgan Chase opened a new Technology Center in Lyman Hall on SU’s Main Campus. This center serves as a regular worksite for selected JPMorgan Chase employees and is a place where students and faculty can engage in internships, experiential learning, and joint research projects in close proximity.
