An International Leader
Each year, the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University educates students from more than 30 countries from all corners of the globe. Many of these students move to Syracuse, New York, to study on the University’s Main Campus. Others opt to enroll in the online version of our graduate degree programs.
The iSchool prides itself on its rich diversity, which is reflected in the range of nationalities and experiences of our students, academic disciplines and backgrounds of our students and faculty members, and the career opportunities available to our graduates.
From faculty research to international study abroad experiences to global collaborations to alumni placement, the iSchool has a strong international presence to complement the extensive international network of Syracuse University.

iSchool Success and Employability Policy for International Students
The School of Information Studies attracts strong students from all over the world but it can be challenging for international students to perform as well as native speakers in the professional environment. The iSchool is dedicated to support our student’s success and employability and in this effort it has instituted a course, IST 600 Professional Career Development that is required for students with TOEFL scores below 100 or IELTS scores below 7.0. It is also customary that these students take an English assessment exam when they arrive on campus. If this exam indicates that this course would not be beneficial then students will be given the option to drop this course. IST 600 Professional Career Development is a three credit hour course that will not apply to the required credits for your academic program but will apply to the student’s grade point average. Since the School of Information Studies believes that this course is very important to the academic and employment success of international students, they will offer the course as a scholarship and there will be no tuition charged to the student.
