Faculty Assistant Program

Faculty Assistant Program

Full-time, campus-based master’s students are eligible to participate in our Faculty Assistant program, which provides an hourly wage of $10/hour for 10 hours per week. This unique program pairs students with faculty members who require support in their area of work. It’s an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience, collaborate with faculty and students in their field, and engage in a strong community of information professionals with ties to the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University.

Goals of this program:
  • Promote faculty-student engagement.
  • Provide opportunities for financial support for full-time, campus-based master’s students.
  • Allow students to gain valuable experience in the information field in order to help define their own career path.

All full-time, campus based master’s students are eligible for the Faculty Assistant program. All admitted students will receive an email at the start of the semester with information about the program and a request to submit an updated resume. Faculty members review resumes of applicants and match student qualifications with faculty needs. Students chosen as Faculty Assistants are notified separately from other financial awards and are contacted by faculty members directly. Given the iSchool’s interdisciplinary focus, faculty needs and Student Assistant assignments can vary and will match a wide variety of interests. Assistantship responsibilities include programming, web and media development, teaching assistance, etc. Please note that the Faculty Assistant Program does not include health benefits.
