Research

Current Research Interests: Broadband telecommunications system planning and design (technical and management aspects); Civic networking; ICTs and socio-economic development; Power utility Smart Grids diffusion; Emerging wireless technologies for emergency response; Information technology in administrative healthcare.  

Current Grants            Co-Principal Investigator: “Adoption of Smart Grid Technologies by Electrical Utilities: Factors Influencing Organizational Innovation in a Regulated Environment” (National Science Foundation NSF SES-1231192; Jason Dedrick, PI; $333,190; 9/15/12 – 8/31/15).           

Co-Principal Investigator: “Wireless Grids Innovation Testbed (WiGIT)” funded by the National Science Foundation Partners for Innovation program (National Science Foundation NSF PFI -917973, Lee McKnight, PI; $791,006, 8/1/2009 – 7/31/2013.

Project team member: “Civic Professionalism: A New Paradigm for Under- graduate Liberal Arts Education” funded by the Teagle Foundation and Imagining America ( $150,000, 7/1/2012 – 6/30/2014).

Teaching

Teaching (undergraduate level): Data networks and telecommunications; Field-based projects in MIS and telecommunications/network planning and design; Topics in MIS; Ethics and governance of technical systems. 

Teaching (graduate level): Socio-technical systems planning and design (in particular data networks and telecommunications); Field-based projects in MIS and telecommunications/network planning and design; Ethics and governance of technical systems; Social implications of technology.
