RSS Instructions

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way for users to personalize their online experience by subscribing to websites of interest. The School of Information Studies offers RSS feeds publishing the latest news releases and upcoming events.

How to subscribe

Subscribing to an RSS feed requires the use of a program known as a feed reader or news aggregator. The feed reader will check RSS enabled web pages on behalf of the user and display headlines as they are published. Clicking on a headline will take you to the Web site providing the feed.

Newsreaders are available as standalone programs or extensions of existing programs such as web browsers. Popular internet browsers such as Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox are equiped with built-in feed readers.  Also, there are many web-based feed readers and news aggregators that require no software installation and make feeds available on any computer with Web access.

Some popular feed readers include:

Stand alone readers: Newz Crawler, FeedDemon,
Web based readers: Google Reader or Bloglines.

Once you have decided on and set up your newsreader, you can subscribe to the iSchool’s RSS feeds.
