The School of Information Studies (iSchool) community mourns the loss of Lori A. Bresnahan, a 1992 graduate of the Masters of Library and Information Science - School Media program. She was killed in an act of violence on Thursday night in the town of Clay, NY. [News story]
Bresnahan had been a librarian in the Liverpool (NY) School District, serving at Willow Field Elementary School, and previously at Chestnut Hill Elementary School. Her undergraduate degree was in childhood education from the State University of New York at Oswego.
The iSchool is in the process of establishing a scholarship in Bresnahan’s name, as well as organizing a children’s book drive for the Liverpool School District. Information about both of these memorial activities will be posted to the iSchool website as they develop. For more information, or to contribute, please contact Blythe Bennett at babennet@syr.edu.
A memorial page has been established. Messages about Lori and/or to the family can be left here.
A fund has also been set up for the benefit of Bresnahan's child. Checks should be made out to the Lori Bresnahan Memorial Fund and sent to:
